Felting with The Nome Schoolhouse
Date:
February 13Time:
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
We’re thrilled to welcome the talented fiber artists from the historic Nome Schoolhouse to The 1889!
Join us for a heart‑filled felting workshop that blends handmade charm with North Dakota hospitality. This cozy, hands‑on class invites you to slow down, create, and enjoy the simple joy of working with wool.
In this session, participants will craft two square drink coasters and two round car coasters—perfectly sized to tuck into your vehicle’s cup holders. Using soft felting wool, cookie cutters for shaping, and step‑by‑step guidance from the Nome team, you’ll learn how to needle‑felt sweet heart patterns onto each piece. No experience needed; just bring your curiosity and a love for making.
All supplies are provided, including:
- 4 felt coasters (2 square, 2 round)
- 2 felting needles
- Felting wool
- Foam felting cushion
- Use of cookie cutters for shaping and design
If you fall in love with felting!
Additional kits will be available for purchase after class so you can keep creating at home.
Join us for an afternoon of crafting, conversation, and community as we celebrate the artistry of North Dakota wool and the North Dakota makers who keep these traditions alive.
