Learn the art of sgraffito by carving your own unique design on a handmade custom clay mug that will be fired in a kiln by maker Nancy Leier and returned to you in 2 weeks!
14-ounce clay mugs are wheel thrown and coated with a black underglaze ready for you to carve your own design or you may choose designs provided by the instructor Nancy Leier. She will show you the tricks of measuring for creating patterns and how to transfer images and use the scratching tools effectively. Choose an interior glaze color and she will paint the glaze and fire your mug in her kiln and have it ready for you to pick up 2 weeks later. All materials are provided, all you have to do is enjoy the meditative process of carving away the black underglaze on greenware clay.
